Server logs
When you visit this website, our hosting provider Hetzner Online GmbH processes technically necessary data in server logs as a processor. This includes IP address, date and time of access, requested address, data transferred, HTTP status code, referrer, and browser and operating-system information. We process this data to deliver the website, maintain its stability and protect it from misuse. The legal basis is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. Logs are deleted after 14 days.
The website and its associated data are processed on Hetzner servers in Germany. We have concluded a data processing agreement with Hetzner.
Contact by email
If you contact us by email, we process your email address and the information in your message. We do so to handle your enquiry and, for licence enquiries, to take steps towards a contract. The legal basis is Article 6(1)(b) GDPR where the enquiry relates to a contract and, otherwise, Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. We delete enquiries after three years, subject to statutory retention periods for business records that arise from an actual transaction.
Matomo analytics
We use the self-hosted Matomo instance at stats.cross-orbit.com to analyse our website’s reach. It operates without analytics cookies, user IDs or cross-site tracking. Matomo processes anonymised IP addresses, timestamps and pages viewed, referrers, technical browser and device information, and interactions with GitHub and licence-enquiry buttons. We process this data to analyse and improve the website under Article 6(1)(f) GDPR.
The Matomo instance is also hosted by Hetzner in Germany. IP addresses are anonymised before analysis. Raw data is deleted after 180 days and aggregated reports after 12 months. Browsers with Do Not Track enabled are not tracked.
You can object to analytics at any time using the control below. Your opt-out preference is stored technically in your browser. If you clear browser data or use a different browser, you may need to set the opt-out again.
